Seeing as this is the only part of the website I get to write I'd like to set the record straight!! Anna made the first move and I didn't swing a softball bat like a golfer more like a pretty average hurler!! (For any Americans reading this we will explain what Hurling is when you get here)
Moving on.. I grew up in County Clare but despite that and being born in Dublin, always considered myself a Tipperary Supporter which is lucky considering that's where I now reside! I had a fantastic childhood courtesy of my father Ed and mother Brid and some of the time my younger brother Niall (He will be the big one at my side on the day... you can't miss him!!) After college I was fortunate enough to move to Rhode Island and work in a fantastic little bar on the beach!! I moved back to Ireland to work in Recruitment but when the opportunity to run my family bar came about in 2013 I jumped back into the publican business!! I continue to run The Green Bar in Borrisokane which will be 100 years in my family in February of next year.
I look forward to getting to know all of our travelling guests and sharing many more stories on the big day.
I am American born in a mid-sized town tucked against the Rocky Mountains called Louisville, Colorado. My father Peter, tests software/hardware for quality control and my mother Terri is the world's greatest stay-at-home mom. I am the oldest of three girls of whom both sisters are bridesmaids in our wedding. From a very young age life priorities were outlined for myself and my sisters as follows: Family, religion, education, however, I think the third one had unintended consequences. My mother taught me to read when my second grade school teacher called me into the office to discuss my illiteracy and scold my parents on typical first-child rearing blunders. My father then took it upon himself to check my math homework until the day I left for college. From their endless encouragement and support I discovered my strength for learning and that academia held the key to never entering the real world.
My education ultimately led me to Ireland where I continue to learn about a culture I truly admire. I've witnessed a ferocity in their love and inherent value for enjoying life. These characteristics and many others are those that I wish our guests experience the day of our wedding.
No matter what your laundry list of requriements is in choosing a partner, there has to be an element of good luck and good fortune and good timing
I met Eoin on my study abroad to Limerick Ireland in 2006. It was through the co-ed softball team that we first became teammates and I remember thinking "who is this red headed fella who swings like a golfer." Little did I know the blossoms of a friendship would lead to "I-Do" a decade later. For six years mine and Eoin's paths would cross in the most uncanny of circumstances, always resulting in a slightly stronger friendship. It wasn't until I moved back to Ireland in 2012 to pursue a PhD that the stars aligned and we began to look at each other in a different light.
From there the rest is history. His recollection of events would lead you to believe I made the first move but since I am creating the website I have the opportunity to set the record straight. What I do know to be true is that the cosmos brought us together a number of times but its the last one that matters most. I am constantly reminded that "timing is everything" and consider myself to be exceptionally lucky to share this manic, passionate, infectious, love-filled life with Eoin.
The Meet and Greet Dinner is scheduled for Thursday August 31st 5:50pm at Flanagans on the Lake in Ballina, County Tipperary. This restaurant is about a 15minute drive from the Castle Oaks Hotel. All traveling guests are welcome!
On the big day, Friday September 1st, a bus will be leaving the Castle Oaks hotel at 11:30am. This bus will transport guests to and from the church ceremony in Carrig, County Tipperary with a pit stop in the Green Bar on the return journey.
Come to the Green Bar for a BBQ and a second round of fun and festivities! A bus will be leaving the Castle Oaks at 5:30pm bound for Borrisokane, County Tipperary. At the end of the evening the bus will make the return journey to the Castle Oaks leaving the Green Bar at 1am.
